About

Hi there!

I’m a geologist turned wildlife biologist turned writer. In grad school I studied fossilized soils (which are rocks!) and now I manage black bears on public land for a living. I’ve spent my entire career working to protect America’s natural treasures, and now I write about science and wildlife issues that I hope make our planet just a little better.

Meredith Dennis has an M.S. in Geological Sciences and a B. S. in Environmental Science from the University of Michigan. She has lived and worked in seven national parks, enjoys baking stupidly complex deserts, and has crushing anxiety about climate change (which she hopes to alleviate with this blog).
